Welcome to the Quest for the Crown 3 charity adult hockey tournament. If you are a returning team, then we hope you have enjoyed our previous tournaments and we look forward to providing you with an even better experience than the last two seasons. If you are a new team, welcome to the largest adult charity hockey tournament in the Rocky Mountains! We hope you enjoy your experience and the awesome competition you’ll face in one of our many divisions. 

 :: A Division ::
TEAMS: Pink Tacos, Tailgators, Beer and Hockey, Christian Hockey
 

Our A-Division is the most advanced and elite division in the Quest for the Crown. This division is reserved for the highly skilled individuals that have NCAA, CHL and recent professional or junior hockey experience. The Pink Tacos currently hold the Quest 2 Championship and will be back to defend their Crown. 

:: B Division ::
TEAMS: Penguins, Lodo’s, Vail Ice Hawks, Hot Tub Casanova 

Our B-Division is a very competitive division. The majority of the players have some level of junior-A or B and/or college hockey experience. The participants display a high level of skill and team play and Craig Hospital Synapse currently holds the Crown from their Quest 2 Championship run.
 

:: C-High Division ::
TEAMS: Dawgs, Silverbacks, Knights, Pikas, Springs Fever, Goodwood 

Our C-High Division is comprised of competitive hockey players who have had experience at the junior, college club, high school, amateur hockey level and/or in C-level adult hockey leagues. This division is reserved for players who have proficient ice hockey skills combined with the desire to play at a competitive level. The Dawgs will be back to defend their Quest 2 Crown once again! 

:: C-Low Division ::
TEAMS: Team Canada, Lumbajax, Bombers, Jeppesen 

Our C-Low Division is comprised of above average hockey players who have had experience at the college club, high school, amateur hockeylevel and/or in an adult hockey program. No player under 25 with junior hockey experience is allowed. Players continue to work on and improve their individual hockey skills as well as overall team skills.
 

:: D Division ::
TEAMS: Dawgs II, Old Style, Altitude Sickness, 67’s, Boomslang, Pioneers
 

Our D-Division is comprised of average hockey players who possess decent puck handling, skating, passing and shooting skills. This division is reserved for intermediate “Over-40″ players and for decent players looking for a moderately competitive atmosphere. There are six spots available in this division. 

:: E Division ::
TEAMS: Ft. Collins Force, Team Hellfish, Seattle Sockeyes, Frostbite, IceHoles, Double Runners
 

Our E-Division is the next step up for beginner hockey players. This division is reserved for players in the E-4 and E-5 divisions in the RMHL and comparable beginner leagues in Colorado. This Division is for hockey players who are still new to the game and need to improve on the basic skills while participating in a team play atmosphere. 

:: Women’s Low Division ::
TEAMS: Socially Awkward, Ice Monkeys, Pucker Ups, Free Agents 

Our Women’s Low Division is for teams that are comprised of players that are rostered B-1 or B-2 in the DWHL or WACH leagues. This includes beginners and intermediate players and teams will require a roster complete with the number of years played and the highest level played for each individual player. 

   
I. TOURNAMENT SCHEDULE AND LOCATION

THURSDAY, APRIL 29: Shootout Tournament from 8:30p – 10:30p
FRIDAY, APRIL 30: Game One between 2:00p and 11:00p
SATURDAY, MAY 1: Games Two + Three between 6:00a and 1:00a
SUNDAY, MAY 2: Game Four between 6:00a and 4:00p

II. TOURNAMENT TEAMS AND DIVISION BREAKDOWN

Teams DO NOT need to be registered with USA Hockey to participate.
Teams MUST be comprised of players (18+) at equal playing levels and must enter into a division appropriate to their ability level.
“A” – 4 Teams “B” – 4 Teams “C-High” – 6 Teams “C-Low” – 4 Teams “D” – 6 Teams “E” – 6 Teams “Women’s” – 4 Teams

III. TOURNAMENT FORMAT AND GAME STRUCTURE

Tournament games incorporate a marathon “running-time” game format. There are no periods, only two halves.
Each game slot is exactly 50 minutes long. There is a three-minute warm-up, two 23-minute halves and a 1:00 minute halftime.
Two-line passes are permitted. The center red line is used for icing. The tag-up rule is used for offsides.
Teams do not switch ends. The referees will determine if switching ends is needed for ice maintenance purposes.
Each team is allowed one 1:00 minute timeout per game. The clock will be stopped during all time outs.
Please be aware that the referees will employ quick faceoffs (within 3-5 seconds of the whistle). Be smart and ready with line changes!
Co-ed divisions are guaranteed four games. Women’s divisions are guaranteed four games.
Round-robin games tied at the end of regulation will result in a tie and one (1) point is awarded to each team.

IV. PLAYOFFS FORMAT AND GAME STRUCTURE

Playoff Consolation game slots will be 50 minutes long. There is a three-minute warm-up, two 23-minute halves and a one-minute halftime.
Playoff Consolation games tied after regulation will go directly to a three-man sudden death shootout. They run the same way as round-robin games.
Championship game slots are 60 minutes long. There is a three-minute warm-up, two 28-minute halves and the last five minutes “stopped-time” only if
the goal margin is two or less. Championship games tied after regulation will go to a five-minute stop time 4-on-4 OT period and then a five-man shootout.

V. TOURNAMENT RULES

All USA Hockey rules and equipment regulations will apply. All players must sign a waiver, be rostered and ID checked before touching the ice.
There is a strict no-fighting policy. Fighting will result in an immediate one-game suspension and possible expulsion from the tournament.
Major penalties such as spearing or butt-ending will result in an immediate one-game suspension and possible expulsion from the tournament.
Referees and Tournament Directors will consult on any and all fighting and major infractions and their subsequent ruling will be final.
There is a strict no-ringer / no-sandbagging rule. Ringers will automatically be removed from their team with no refund. All decisions are final.
Intoxicated players may be ejected from the game immediately by the referees, scorekeepers or Tournament Director at any time.
Anyone under the age of 21 caught or seen drinking alcohol on the premises will be expelled from the tournament.
Goalie substitutions are allowed if an injury occurs. Goalie must be at equal or lower talent level of the division.

VI. TIE-BREAKING PROCEDURES

Two points are awarded for a win. One point awarded for a tie. Tie-breakers in the standings will be determined in the following order:
1. Head-to-Head Record 2. Goal Differential 3. Lowest PIM’s 4. Coin Toss

VII. CHECK-IN, REPORTING TIMES AND LOCKER ROOM PROCEDURES

All teams must be paid in full, ID’s checked and waivers signed before playing. ID’s will be checked before Games 1 and 4.
All rosters must be finalized before Game 1. This includes all players and potential subs.
No injury or ejection substitutions will be made. Players should arrive one hour prior to every game.
Captains who obtain a locker room key must leave their own car keys or a driver’s license with the staff at the Tournament Desk.
Locker room assignments will be provided by The Edge Ice Arena and printed schedules are available in the main lobby.

VIII. PROTESTS & DISPUTE PROCEDURES

If there are any protests, please contact a Quest official immediately. Please do not verbally harass referees in any way.
Any abuse of an referee, tournament staff member or scorekeeper, on or off the ice, will result in an expulsion.
