Skate with the Stars 3

The culminating and pinnacle event of our Quest for the Crown 3 charity hockey festival was once again the Skate with the Stars celebrity charity game, sponsored in part by Reebok Hockey and Outback Steakhouse.

Highlighted by former Avalanche defenseman Ken Klee, St. Louis Blues forward Derek Armstrong and the honorable NHL Hall of Famer Michel Goulet acting as the celebrity coach, the third-annual celebrity game ended in a 13-12 victory for Team White.

There were a multitude of memorable moments during this game, all of which were perfectly captured by Janet Smith from Charlie’s Caps. Be sure to check out the game’s official photo gallery by clicking here!

For those of you interested in a DVD copy of the game, be sure to visit 5280 Sports and their video partner, Goalmaster28 Productions. They did an amazing job of capturing the excitement of the Championship Games earlier in the day and the entire Skate with the Stars experience as well.

Overall, the game was a wonderful way to cap off the third-annual Quest charity hockey festival and we appreciate everyone who helped make this possible, especially Ice Monkeys captain Bea Schneider, who personally hand-stitched almost every jersey used in this year’s game…during the tournament!

We also want to thank Reebok Hockey rep Geoff Dell for once again providing us with the awesome Reebok Edge jerseys and Outback Steakhouse for another succulent post-game celebrity meal!

Since we are exactly a week away from our third-annual Quest for the Crown charity hockey festival, we created a flyer that describes our main mission statement and provides fans, players and family members with the different ways that anyone can contribute to our event.

Thursday Night Shootout Tourney Details!

The Hockey Guild is proud to host a new event this year to kick off the Quest 3 festival – the Thursday Night Shootout Tournament. This is a great way for local teams and players not in the Quest 3 tournament to still come out and support our cause by helping us kick off the event with another quality Guild shootout tournament!

For those of you familiar with our Battle for the Banner shooutout tournament with the Colorado Avalanche, you know how these run and how much fun and laid back they can be! Below is a video of one of our semifinal games from the Battle for the Banner 3 Shootout Tournament, which was held on Feb. 28 at Pepsi Center!

Quest for the Crown teams automatically get a free entry just for being a part of our annual charity tournament. All other entries are just $50. We are now taking team registrations and you can either call at 720-273-0444 or e-mail us at info@thehockeyguild.com to register your team!

Charlie’s Caps Are Back

The Hockey Guild is excited to have Janet Smith and her family once again joining our Quest charity hockey festival. Janet, who is the creator of Charlie’s Caps, is one of the most passionate cancer-fighters we have met since our Quest began and a big supporter of our event.

Charlie’s Caps are hand-knitted or crocheted hats that are made with a little TLC from Janet for those needing as she says, “A hug for their head.” Janet’s inspiration behind the hats is from her father, Charlie, who suffered from cancer.

Same as last year, Janet will reward the team that raises the most in our Five$ for the Fight fundraising campaign for the NHL’s Hockey Fights Cancer foundation with a special team-colored Charlie’s Cap for every player!

The orange and blue Charlie’s Caps (seen above) were made last May for the Borealis Blades, a women’s team that traveled to Denver from Alaska for the second-annual Quest. The team will be using Charlie’sCaps in their local hospital in Anchorage.

Quest 3 Player Discount Cards

The Hockey Guild strives to provide every Quest for the Crown player and team with as many benefits and perks as possible, in order to show our appreciation for the support given to the NHL’s Hockey Fights Cancer foundation.

One item that every Quest 3 player will receive is a Guild Member/Player Card. These cards, which are valid for one full year (May 1, 2010 to April 30, 2011) includes a number of quality discounts available at different sponsor locations throughout Colorado and via the internet.

Below is a list of the current discounts available on the cards. Over the summer, we will continue to add discounts and load up the cards in preparation for the 2010-2011 hockey season. Once May 1st arrives, we will have a web page posted on www.TheHockeyGuild.com with any other discounts we procure in the next week, along with locations and contact information.

Three New Teams Join the Quest

The Hockey Guild is proud to announce that our Quest 3 charity tournament filled up over the weekend, thanks in part to the support from two new Guild teams…and a re-invented returning team.

Boomslang competes in the Boulder Valley YMCA league and has taken the final spot in the E-Division. The Penguins joined the B-Division alongside a team that has played in many different Guild events, but always enjoys using a different team name. This year, the team formerly known as the Home Dressers will be called Hot Tub Casanova.

Finally we have another new team to add, team Frostbite, from the Colorado Springs area. They have also entered our E-Division and came through late in the game to help us make our third-annual Quest the largest of them all!

Our schedule is now able to be completed and we will have it posted on the home page on Monday night or Tuesday morning!
