Silent Auction Items [Photos]

The National Hockey League and the Hockey Fights Cancer foundation support our annual Quest for the Crown charity hockey festival in part by donating items for our silent auction. Below are some of the authentic memorabilia you will find over the weekend!

Similar to the last two years, the NHL sends us three signed hats, three signed pucks and three signed jerseys. They also send a couple of limited edition Hockey Fights Cancer ties and women’s hats as well!

The Quest Has A New Home

The Hockey Guild is proud to announce that our Quest for the Crown charity hockey festival has a new home. After hosting our event at Big Bear the last two years, we’re now fighting cancer at The Edge Ice Arena in Littleton, Colorado.

The Edge is a year-round ice facility with two NHL size ice surfaces, eight locker rooms, party/community rooms, a concession stand and a full service pro shop. The Edge offers programs for all ages and ability levels in Hockey and Figure Skating as well as housing the Foothills Flyers and Colorado Selects youth hockey associations.

We would like to thank Big Bear Ice Arena and their staff for the tremendous support over the last two years, including former rink manager Ryan Stewart and ice manager Chuck Huggins. Their entire facility is a perfect place to host a tournament and we were proud to call it our home for the first two Quest charity festivals.

We appreciate everyone’s patience as we worked extremely hard to find a new venue that better fits the needs and requests of our adult players and teams. We are proud to say that not much else has changed, other than the fact we are at a facility that can handle our growth for this season and many years to come!

NHL Auction Items Arrive!

In support of our annual quest to fight cancer, the National Hockey League supports the event by sending us a great care package filled with rare and authentic autographed memorabilia for our silent auction.

The past two years have featured three jerseys, three pucks and three hats and this year was no different, as today our Quest 3 care package and thank-you letter arrived from NHL Corporate Offices on the Avenue of the Americas in New York city! Here is a copy of the letter we received…

Pioneers to Represent Grand Junction

The Hockey Guild is proud to welcome back the Grand Junction Pioneers for their second straight appearance in our Quest for the Crown charity hockey tournament.

Last year, the Pioneers, who are led by captain and goalie Bob Howell, made the trek all the way from Grand Junction to Big Bear in order to support our cause and help raise awareness for Hockey Fights Cancer. That’s quite a trip for a weekend of charity hockey, but by the feedback we received, it was well worth the travel!

When it comes to all of that driving, you can just tell the Pioneers have a real passion for local hockey. Case in point – they even brought the whole crew out to an Avalanche home game a few weeks ago to play in one of our After-Hours games!

We are proud to host the Grand Junction Pioneers adult hockey club and promote hockey in that area. It sounds like more locals in the area are throwing on skates and taking to the ice, so keep up the great work guys and we’ll see you in April!

The Lumbajax are Back…

Shortly after sending out ouor special invitations to all Quest 1 and 2 adult hockey team captains, we received confirmation for our first team entered in the Quest 3 charity tournament.

The Hockey Guild is proud to announce the Arkansas Valley Lumbajax will once again compete in the Quest 3 adult hockey tournament. The Lumbajax are captained by Nathan Cook and are based out of Monument, Colorado.

The Lumbajax are a great group of guys with a strong community of friends and they do a great job of representing the growing adult hockey scene in Monument. They were one of the two winning teams in our Monument Meltdown summer tournament and went 1-2-1 in Quest for the Crown 2.

One team down, 39 to go. We appreciate the support of the Lumbajax and be sure to check out their website by clicking on their logo above!

Medieval Mask Design Contest 2

The Goalie Guild proudly brings goalies of all ages another chance to win a FREE goalie mask and the design of their dreams! Sponsored by Masked Marvel helmets and Mike Learn Airbrushing, our second Medieval Mask Design Contest is hosted in support of our Quest for the Crown 3 charity hockey festival, which is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the NHL’s Hockey Fights Cancer foundation.

The official dates for Medieval Mask Design Contest II is January 15 – April 30. All entries must be received by midnight MST on April 30. The winner will be announced at the end of our charity hockey festival on Sunday, May 2.

In order to be eligible to win the Grand Prize, contestants need to make a $5 donation to the foundation through our festival. That will act as your registration, which allows you to create your very own design by hand or digitally. Similar to our first mask design contest, all entries must be supplemented with a 500-word (or less) mask description and essay.

The Medieval theme for this contest is part of the mission statement set forth for our charity festival, meaning it must incorporate a CROWN into the design! Any kind of crown-related theme or imagery is acceptable for this contest, so be as creative as you want to be!

Please direct any and all charity contest questions to info@thehockeyguild.com and be sure to include complete contact details with your official mask design and 500-word description essay! You can also reach us at 720-273-0444 if you would like to discuss other details!

Quest 3 Festival Mission Statement

As we do with every Quest for the Crown event, we take the month of January to introduce our event to the new hockey players and fans we’ve touched since last summer. We also take the time to explain our overall mission and goals to everyone who has supported our event in the past and for new teams interested in joining our charity hockey festival.

Over the last two years, we’ve come to learn that what our entire event boils down to is people. The players. Their families. The 30+ team captains. And the family-run local businesses that support these players.

When it comes down to our overall mission, we all know it directly benefits the National Hockey League’s Hockey Fights Cancer foundation. Fighting cancer is what we are all about. So as a way to raise awareness and interest in the game of hockey and the league’s biggest fight, we donate a generous percentage of funds raised to Hockey Fights Cancer. To the tune of more than $10,000 to be exact.

That’s pretty good for a bunch of beer league hockey teams.

But the players and teams, and the event itself is so much more than that. It’s a weekend charity festival. It’s a time to play hockey, celebrate the game through different events and experience memories on and off the ice that will last forever.

For our third-annual event, we have chosen a mission that not only provides direct benefits for the players and teams, but includes a more refined, streamlined production. We spent countless hours pouring over hundreds of ideas, but ultimately we kept coming back to the players, their families and the overall team experience.

While that’s not the most clear or coherent description of our mission and goals for Quest for the Crown 3, we guarantee you will come to understand in the coming weeks. Now that we have revealed our new website, which is graciously hosted by 303Software, we can move forward with everything else, from team registration to the posting of silent auction items.

So as you can see, we have some really cool things in store for everyone when the end of the hockey season rolls around. But for now, enjoy the new-look website and get pumped up for what’s going to be one heck of a charity hockey tournament! Our registration form and other festival materials should be post next week, so check back here or feel free to contact us with any questions!

Welcome Back to the Quest!

Well hockey fans, it’s the beginning of a new year. And that means it’s time for everyone here at The Hockey Guild to start preparing for our third-annual Quest for the Crown charity hockey festival.

And as you can see, we get to kick things off by revealing our new online digs!

We have a ton of new, interactive features that bring you the latest news and notes from our festival staff. You can even leave comments on every article and even send us your questions and comments instantly through our Shoutbox, which is halfway down the right sidebar.

So allow us to be the first to welcome you to the new-look home for our charity hockey festival, which is dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the National Hockey League’s Hockey Fights Cancer foundation. If you are new to our growing family of Quest hockey players, supporters, sponsors, friends and family, then you’ve found the home of the largest charity hockey event in the Rocky Mountains.

Over the last two years, our event has raised and donated more than $10,000 for Hockey Fights Cancer and hosted over 60 adult hockey teams from all across North America. We host a series of events over the course of four days, all of which are dedicated to the same cause – fighting cancer!

So feel free to join us from April 29 – May 2, 2010 at Big Bear Ice Arena and enjoy our series of events that celebrate the game we love and help the NHL against their biggest fight of all.

Be sure to look around the new website and feel free leave comments on any of our festival events or promotions!
